January 2020 Master Class

Great first master class of 2020. Four great artists joined me in my private studio classroom for two days painting. Members included Margo Cook, Jon Lee, Vaughn Emett, and Mark Rose. Not pictured in the photos is Margo Cook. Each artist brought their own reference photos, and worked through value studies to come up with good compositions. They then pursued their own paintings in watercolor.

New Annette Everett Sculpture chosen for Roland Lee Collection

At the "Live Life Inspired" exhibit at Illume Gallery, it was fun to visit with all the artists. I especially enjoyed my visit with one of my favorite artists Annette Everett and was able to purchase another bronze from her, "The Good Shepherd." This is my third bronze from Annette.

My Son Jim Lee Presents First One-man Show

I am so proud of my two sons, Jim and Jon Lee, who are both having one-man exhibits at the same time right now. Jon's is at the Kanab Library and Jim hosted one at his home studio in Highland Utah. Jim had a great turnout and sold 13 paintings. He recently completed his 100th watercolor painting as well and has won a number of awards.

Many new collectors at Zion Centennial Show

I was pleased to sell 15 paintings at the 2019 Zion Centennial Plein Air Celebration. Only ten artists were invited to participate this centennial year, and we had a tremendously successful sale. Here are some of my wonderful collectors.

29 Paintings Sold at 3-Man Show

Jim, Jonathan and Roland Lee hanging paintings for their first three-man show at the Roland Lee Art Gallery in St. George, UT.
Wow, what a fun experience having my two sons, Jim and Jonathon, join me for a three-man show at my St. George Gallery. I took most of my own artwork down except for about ten paintings and literally filled my walls with the watercolors of my sons. Both have been really good at drawing since childhood, but only in the past two years have taken up painting. So it was  areal thrill to have them join me for our first big show together. We had lots of people come to the opening reception Thursday night, and all day Friday and Saturday. Amazingly we sold 29 paintings between the three of us so it was a resounding success. I hope we can do it again some time.
