Famous Painting Re-do

Okay all of us have gone a little crazy during the Coronavirus shut down. So our family accepted the challenge to re-enact famous paintings. My wife Nellie and I decided to do Arrangement in Grey and Black (Whistlers Mother) by James A. McNeill Whistler and the Old Guitarist by Pablo Picasso. I think we pretty much nailed it. lol! All the paintings are below.

Watercolor Workshop at Maynard Dixon Property for Girl's Academy

My son, Jonathan, and I enjoyed sharing our talents with a great group of young ladies from a Kanab Girl's Academy. The girls, with their leaders traveled to the Maynard Dixon Property in Mt. Carmel Utah, where we spent a couple of hours working on watercolor paintings, before enjoying a tour of the Maynard Dixon property and Edith Hamlin studio. I was excited to share with them the rich heritage of artists who lived and worked in East Zion area. Thanks to their leaders, along with Emilie who took us through the Bingham Gallery. We are also grateful to Paul and Susan Bingham who work so hard to make the Dixon Property available to our young people.

January 2020 Master Class

Great first master class of 2020. Four great artists joined me in my private studio classroom for two days painting. Members included Margo Cook, Jon Lee, Vaughn Emett, and Mark Rose. Not pictured in the photos is Margo Cook. Each artist brought their own reference photos, and worked through value studies to come up with good compositions. They then pursued their own paintings in watercolor.

New Annette Everett Sculpture chosen for Roland Lee Collection

At the "Live Life Inspired" exhibit at Illume Gallery, it was fun to visit with all the artists. I especially enjoyed my visit with one of my favorite artists Annette Everett and was able to purchase another bronze from her, "The Good Shepherd." This is my third bronze from Annette.

I am so proud of my two sons, Jim and Jon Lee, who are both having one-man exhibits at the same time right now. Jon's is at the Kanab Library and Jim hosted one at his home studio in Highland Utah. Jim had a great turnout and sold 13 paintings. He recently completed his 100th watercolor painting as well and has won a number of awards.
