 I am enjoying a wonderful workshop with my friend and master artist John Poon. Joined by 10 others we painted every day this week outdoors in the Ogden and Bountiful Utah area. It has been a fun week while I try to make sense of painting in acrylics. It has been so hot that I had to keep misting my palette, the paints and even my canvases to keep the acrylics from drying out. But I am having a blast.

 I enjoyed speaking at the closing social for the Dixie Watercolor Society. I showed my Sienna easel and my Winsor Newton hand-held kit. I also sold quite a few copies of my new book, "Legacy in Landscapes."

 We enjoyed a couple of days in Zion National Park. The weather was perfect for plein air painting.

 My new art book, "Legacy in Landscapes" is selling really well. I have sold 100 copies in the first two weeks and have several book signings scheduled. The book is hard bound full color 160 pages featureing many of my newer paintings. Click here to see it.

New Roland Lee Art Book

 I just received an advance copy of my new art book, Roland Lee Legacy in Landscapes. I am so pleased with the color and the print quality. It is always exciting to see a new publication, but I am thrilled with this book. 160 pages, full color hardcover for $39.95 plus tax and shipping. And of course I will sign them. They will be available for shipment hopefully by April 15.

Speaking About my Paintings at the Kayenta Center for the Arts

We were greeted by an enthusiastic sold out crowd at the Kayenta Arts Center as Lyman Hafen and I gave a dual lecture on the history of southern Utah. As part of the Voyager Lecture Series I presented a powerpoint showing many of my paintings of pioneer history, as well as the Ancestral Puebloans, plus the geologic history of this area. My good friend and author Lyman Hafen shared some of his stories from his book, "Where Two Streams Meet."

Toquerville Falls, Yant Flats, and Laverkin overlook in one day

 It was one long day from sunrise to sunset, but I was able to see and sketch in three different awesome spots. My son Jim invited me to go on an "outing" and let me choose the spots. We had a fantastic time. He drives an electric Rivian, and it can pretty much go anywhere. The so-called "road" out to Toquerville Falls almost gave me a heart attack, and turned out to be the most challenging two-mile-an-hour rock crawling event I have ever been on. It is really a jeep trail, but Jim raised the Rivian, let some air out of the tires and we did just fine. What a day!
